Rose Anyango Omollo

Rose is an active member of Word of Faith Church in Ndhiwa, serving on the usher team that cleans the worship space after services.

  • She used to own a grocery business. She would buy items at the market, then sell them at a profit to her neighbors. They were willing to pay for the convenience of not having to go to the market themselves.

  • Her business folded because she never had adequate capital to buy enough goods at the market to make the effort worthwhile and profitable.

  • Her first husband died in 1998; her second husband abandoned her and the children after the youngest child was born. His family refused to help her and the children.

  • Because of their severe poverty, her daughters dropped out of school and married into other families. She still has four boys at home.

  • She lives with HIV/AIDS treated with anti-viral medication.

  • Rose has requested the equivalent of $350 USD to start a grocery business at a large enough scale to make it work. She knows how to do it. She just needs the startup funds.
